Teen Allegedly Mutilated Mom’s Cat

Colo. Teen Who Allegedly Mutilated Mom’s Cat Now Accused of Killing Nurse, 44, with Teen Friend

A Colorado teen who allegedly previously admitted to killing his mother’s cat is now accused of killing a nurse.

On April 28, police found 44-year-old Bridget Kenner dead in her Colorado Springs home while responding to a requested welfare check, according to a police news release.

Kenner’s coworkers called police on the day her body was found because she’d failed to show up to work.

She appeared to have been stabbed and her body was left nude in the living room, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Gazette and KRDO.

Police reportedly learned from Kenner’s boyfriend that she lived alone with her 16-year-old daughter, who dates 19-year-old Cohen “Vinn” Heath.

Police located the two teens at a 7-Eleven about one mile from the crime scene and took them into custody.

On Monday, police announced Heath and an unidentified 16-year-old juvenile were charged with murder in the first degree for Kenner’s death.

This isn’t the first time Heath has been accused of being violent.

In October, Heath allegedly told police he had thought about killing a friend but instead mutilated his mother’s cat while high on methamphetamine, according to KRDO, KKTV and the Gazette. He allegedly stabbed the cat to death before cutting its paw off to make into a necklace. He was charged with one count of aggravated cruelty to animals and released from jail after posting bond.

Following the announcement of Heath and the 16-year-old’s arrest, Kenner’s mother posted pictures of her daughter on Facebook, saying she was “devastated.”

“Please lift our family in prayer. Keith and I have lost our beautiful daughter Bridget Kenner unexpectedly last week,” Toni Crews shared with Facebook friends. “We are absolutely devastated. She will always be loved and missed. Fly high with the angels baby.”

Kenner worked as a nurse with Centura Health for 10 years, according to the Gazette.

It’s unclear whether Heath has entered a plea on either the animal cruelty or murder charge. Both suspects remain behind bars. Attorney information for either teen was not available. Calls made to El Paso County court officials were not immediately returned Thursday.
