Today is World Elephant day. On August 12 every year is World Elephant Day. The day brings people together to help conserve and protect elephants from the numerous threats they face all over the world. Mission: The World Elephant Day mission is to spread awareness, share knowledge, and provide solutions for better care and management of both captive and wild elephants. History: The year 2012 was the first year for the campaign and in the tradition of Earth Day, we hope that it will grow as a grassroots, word-of-mouth initiative. This amazing story of a baby elephant poached from it’s parents at a young age ended in tears. But not the tears from the spikes pierced through the kind elephants shins or tears from the whipping and torment. These where some of the first recorded tears an animal has had from happiness. After this elephant was saved by a late night mission to infiltrate the chamber the elephant was tortured in. These amazing animal lovers where able sneak the elephant away and take it to shelter. In shelter they took off all the shackles and gave the elephant love. In exchange the elephant filled with happiness started pouring tears. We all know animals have feeling and care for each other in their own way. It’s time we give them the rights we expect from ourselves. They are not ours to do what we want, we are sharing the planet with them. Raju was in captivity for 50 years until he was saved.
